Start word processing in style with WordMaster, an easy-to-use word
processor/editor equipped with a built-in menu system. It has all the
basics like search and replace, block commands, and margins, plus high-
end extras that include online help, a shell command, macro creation,
font selection, a spelling checker (with Turbo Lightning installed),
and available memory checking. See "Getting Started with WordMaster" in
the magazine for a hands-on introduction to this powerful program. Note:
This program requires 384K to run properly.

■DMP,DMP.PAQ,DMP.DOC,/I
Don't tie up your computer every time you need to print a file. Try
DMP, a memory-resident print spooler that uses your hard disk, ramdisk,
extended memory, or expanded memory to print your file in the
background. The program is not compatible with the DOS PRINT utility or
with any other print spoolers or buffers that use LPT1. Note: The DMP
DOC file is too large to read through the menu. Install DMP, exit CMOS,
go to the drive or directory where you installed the files, and use the
DOS TYPE command, TurboTYPE, or your word processor to read the file.

main, expanded, and extended memory; your CPU and coprocessor type; the
number of serial and parallel ports; the number of floppy, fixed, and

Have some fun with this entertaining, electronic Spirograph. While your
computer does all the work, you can sit back and enjoy an almost
infinite assortment of colorful, swirling shapes. For a practical
application, run Sine when you leave your computer unoccupied to keep
others from bothering your system. To see the available options, enter
/H on the parameter line when you run the program from CMOS or SINE /H
on the command line if you run it from DOS. Note: If you get an error
when you run Sine from CMOS, install it, exit CMOS, and run it from DOS.

Put on your thinking cap! You'll need it to solve the puzzles in SuJu,
a Jumbles-like word game. In SuJu, you must unscramble the four word
puzzles plus a mystery word puzzle. If you're a whiz with words, try
the tournament mode where you choose the level of play (novice,
intermediate, expert, or master) and have to solve the puzzles within a
time limit.

■SetRAM,RAM.PAQ,SETRAM.DOC,/T/I
Special Bonus Program: In DOS, it's possible to set up a simulated disk
drive in memory. You can use this drive as ultrafast disk storage to
speed up many disk-intensive programs. DOS provides a ramdisk called
either VDISK or RAMDRIVE, but once you install it, the size of the disk
can't be changed. With SetRAM, you can change the size of your ramdisk
from the DOS prompt or remove it entirely.

■■Information and Extras
Welcome to COMPUTE!'s Menu Operating System (CMOS). To install the
programs on this disk from the menu, highlight your choice on the menu
and press Enter or click the left mouse button. Choose Install from the
next menu, and follow the prompts to install the program. If you prefer
to install the programs from DOS, exit the menu and read the HELP.ME
file by entering T HELP.ME at the DOS prompt. Please read the DOC files
before running any of the programs.
■
■ CGA
The CGA emulation program, CGA.COM is included on every disk that
contains a CGA-only program. Hercules or compatible users should
run CGA before attempting to run Sine. CGA is compressed with the
SINE.EXE program in the file SINE.PAQ on the disk. Hercules users
should install Sine from CMOS, run CGA by entering CGA $ at the
DOS prompt, then run Sine by entering SINE /H to see the available
options.

■ TurboTYPE
Looking for a fast way to read text files without loading your word
processor? Tired of pressing Ctrl-S to stop text from scrolling
offscreen with the DOS TYPE command? You need TurboTYPE (which first
appeared in the July 1989 issue), a text lister that gives you the
power to move forward or backward by line, by screenful, or by smooth
scrolling. To run the program, enter T drive:path\filename at the DOS
prompt. TurboTYPE appears on every disk, so you'll always have the
latest version.
