■QwikTex

[Please note that your printer must be IBM or EPSON compatible, I think!]

QwikTex is a handy little utility which enables you to get short letters or
memos printed with the minimum of fuss. It is ram-resident (stays in memory)
until you reset your computer, so it will work 'on top' of most text-screen
programs. To load QwikTex, move to the UTILS sub-directory and type QWIKTEX
on the command line. When it is loaded, a prompt will be displayed and you
will be returned to DOS.

When you want to use QwikTex, press [Alt][Tab] and immediately a window will
pop-up. The advantage QwikTex has over a typewriter is that it allows you to
correct each line of text before it is sent to the printer.

Holding down [Alt] and typing a number between 32 and 254 will produce a letter
including those not normally available from the keyboard.

Editing Keys:

Enter : Accept line
Esc, CtrlBreak : Pop-Down
<-, ->           : left/right one character
CtrlLeft : Left one word
CtrlRight : Right one word
Home : Beginning of line
End : End of line
Del : Delete character at cursor
Bksp : Delete character left of cursor
CtrlEnd : Delete to end of line
CtrlY : Delete entire line
CtrlHome : Delete from beginning of line
CtrlT : Delete word at cursor
Ins : Toggle insert mode on/off
CtrlP : Control character. Pressing CtrlP will cause QwikTex to
wait for you to press Ctrl + <character>. This control
character will be placed into the string. Useful for
                   printer commands.

A printer status line appears at the top of the window. This shows the working
status of the printer. It has only been tested with a STAR LC-10, so results
may be different with other printers.

One great feature of QwikTex which many professional (expensive) ram-resident
programs don't include is the ability to un-load itself. If it is safe to do
so (i.e. if it is the last pop-up to be installed), pressing [F10] pops the
program down as usual, but also erases it completely from memory.
