THE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM - GLOBAL MENU DEMO & FILES/PROGRAMS EXTRACT UTILITY
The Global Menu Demo is self-explanatory. For all those users who have the
Basic Enterprise System Disks A to E, it allows the full system to work with
a Hard Disk on an integrated basis. As you add the various components of
ENTERPRISE, the twin-screen menus allow you to access them directly. Note,
GWBASIC.EXE needs renaming as BASIC.EXE, similarly TURBO-BASIC's TB.EXE etc.
The Extract Utility provided with this disk, is Option [X] on the second
menu-screen. Note that the Table Data-Base Generator Disk provided with the
March '89 issue of this magazine is Option B on the first screen. Important,
when using the EXTRACT utility, make sure that your programs/files are saved
first in ASCII format e.g. from GWBASIC, the syntax is: SAVE"filename",A
You don't have to enter the Extension [.BAS] when specifying the original
file, but you MUST for the updated version you wish to compare. That doesn't
have to be [.BAS] incidentally, [.NEW] is preferable and avoids mix-ups!
With care and experience, the resulting (extracted) sub-programs with the
special extension [.MOD] can be renumbered (if necessary) and merged into
any other programs you wish to update.
A full Utility Disk G plus a System Part 2 Handbook, costs £37.50 post-free
