The X86.WORLD Disk Library preserves vintage floppy disk images — chiefly cover disks bundled with 1980s and 1990s PC magazines. Each disk is read from its original physical media at the magnetic flux level using a Greaseweazle, converted to a raw disk image, and then verified, catalogued, and scanned for viruses before publication.

Every entry records the disk's format and geometry, its filesystem (typically FAT12), a complete manifest of every file and directory (dirs) with SHA-256 checksums, and any recovered text such as documentation and source code. Where a disk carries a boot-sector virus, the infected original is preserved for study alongside a cleaned copy. Disks can be browsed here or mounted live over the network via the mTCP NetDrive service on a real or emulated DOS machine.
